I've always been fascinated by the connection between pop culture and traditional symbols. In a recent project, I explored how Doraemon—with his round shape, vibrant blue color, and role as a protector—reminds me of the Chinese lucky cats (maneki-neko) that fill so many shops. Both represent fortune and magical assistance, though one has a four-dimensional pocket instead of a raised paw. Through illustrations, I played with this idea, merging elements to reinterpret the concept of luck in a contemporary context.
